25% increase in sessions following Fram Farmers app launch*
Fram Farmers, a UK agricultural co-operative, supports its members with products, services and commercial expertise. As a long-standing partner of 7DOTS, they set out to evolve their digital experience to better support farmers who increasingly need access to services while on the move.
The objective was to create a mobile-first app that made it faster and easier for members to access essential tools, information and updates wherever their work takes them, while building on the existing portal infrastructure.

The Challenge
Fram Farmers had an established and effective member portal delivering a wide range of valuable services. However, member behaviour was shifting, with more farmers needing reliable, quick access in the field rather than at a desk.
The opportunity was not just technical, but experiential. The existing platform was not optimised for the realities of on-the-go usage, where speed, simplicity and accessibility are critical.
At the same time, any solution needed to avoid duplicating systems or introducing operational complexity. It had to integrate seamlessly with the existing platform while maintaining a single source of truth.
The app also needed to meet app store requirements and support native functionality such as push notifications, offline access and secure biometric login across devices.

The Solution
7DOTS developed a hybrid mobile app that brought the Fram Farmers portal into a seamless, mobile-first experience, combining accessibility with enhanced functionality.
- Hybrid wrapper architecture – Delivered a scalable app framework that leverages existing portal functionality while enabling rapid deployment across iOS and Android.
- Mobile-first UX and UI design – Reworked navigation, layout, and interaction patterns to ensure clarity, speed, and usability on smaller screens.
- Biometric authentication – Implemented secure, frictionless login using fingerprint and facial recognition to improve access and reduce reliance on passwords.
- Push notifications and alerts – Enabled real-time communication, allowing Fram Farmers to deliver timely, relevant updates directly to members.
- Offline capability and device features – Introduced caching for improved performance in low-connectivity environments, with scope for GPS and camera-based functionality.
- Integrated content management – Connected the app directly to the existing portal, removing duplication and streamlining internal workflows.
- Analytics and behavioural tracking – Deployed measurement frameworks to give clear visibility into how members engage with the app and its features.
Metrics That Matter
Performance improvements were seen quickly following the app launch, reflecting stronger engagement and easier access to services:
- Traffic growth – Total sessions increased by 50.2%, demonstrating a significant uplift in overall usage.
- Direct engagement – Direct sessions rose by 107.1%, indicating stronger habitual use and member reliance on the app.
- Search performance – Organic sessions grew by 15.1%, supported by a 32.7% increase in organic click-through rate.
These gains reflect both improved accessibility and a more compelling user experience, driving repeat usage and deeper engagement.

The Outcome
The new app transformed how Fram Farmers members interact with the organisation’s digital services. Members can now access critical tools, information, and updates anytime and anywhere, significantly improving convenience and day-to-day usability.
For the business, the app strengthened its digital proposition and created a more direct, controllable communication channel with its membership base. The introduction of analytics has also improved visibility into user behaviour, enabling more informed decision-making and ongoing optimisation.
Operationally, integrating the app with the existing portal reduced duplication and simplified content management, creating efficiencies for internal teams while maintaining consistency across platforms.
